ELDORADO TIRES REVIEW - SPORT FURY AT4S

CHOOSING AN ALL-TERRAIN TIRE

When it comes to all-terrain tires for your rig, the first thing that comes to mind are the big name companies out there dominating the social media videos, off-road shows, and tire reseller websites. So, now you’re all stoked, you call your local big name tire dealer, tell them you are going with a larger size tire and that you need the full size spare upgraded also. He calculates it out with (5) tires, balancing and installation, then tells you that’ll be $1,909.90. As your knees go a little weak, you ask him to repeat the price and you’re now thinking there’s no way the wife will be happy about that. That’s when you say to yourself, “There has to be a quality all-terrain tire out there in a price range that I can afford.”

Well, I’m here to tell you that there is a tire, and in my opinion, that all-terrain tire is the Eldorado Sport Fury AT4S. SUV and light truck owners want a tire that performs on- and off-road and Eldorado Tire gives you the best of both worlds with the Sport Fury AT4S.

I purchased a set of (5) Eldorado Sport Fury AT4S for my 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport for $1,134.97, installed. The stock set of tires that came with it,  made my Gladiator look underwhelming. I went with an LT285/70 R17 tire size, which took it up to about a 33” diameter and 11.5" wide, as opposed to the stock tires which are a 245/75 R17 or about a 31.5” diameter and 9.8" wide. Now, I am not saying there is anything wrong with the stock tires, but I just wanted a quality all-terrain tire that suited my driving needs and my taste. As you can see from the comparison pics below, my Jeep Gladiator now looks more like how a Jeep Gladiator should look... ready for anything. The Eldorado Sport Fury AT4S tires give my rig that beefier, aggressive look.

ARE ELDORADO TIRES GOOD?

In one word… yes. For starters, the Sport Fury AT4S comes with:

  • 50,000 mile limited warranty

  • 1-year tire road hazard protection plan

  • Replacement for the first 50% of treadwear for workmanship

  • Three peak mountain snowflake symbol   indicating superior performance in snow and winter conditions.

I like the jagged edge tread block design for better traction and the aggressive open shoulder tread design to expel water, winter, slush and mud for optimum grip in all-terrain conditions. I'm also impressed with the extra deep tread block siping which helps to increase the grip in harsher weather conditions. The LT sizes come with a deep 18/32” tread depth.  See the tire tread comparison pics below.

HOW DO THE ELDORADO SPORT FURY AT4S TIRES PERFORM?

The Eldorado Sport Fury AT4S all-terrain tires are built for those that want on-road functionality with off-road capability. This is how the tires have performed for me so far:

Ride Comfort - it’s kind of hard to describe the ride you get from these tires, however it is a positive experience. When you see these larger, wider tires on my Jeep Gladiator you expect a harsh and stiff typical 4x4 ride. With the Sport Fury AT4S tire, you do feel a stiffness, but it’s what I'd describe as a muffled stiffness, which is a good thing! I like it. Must come from the composites they use in the rubber formula.

  • Road Noise - On city streets I could really discern no difference in road noise compared to the stock tires. During highway travel there was just some road noise increase compared to stock, but of course there will be some increase to road noise due to the aggressive tread pattern. Nothing really to write home about.

  • On-Road Handling - The tires grip the road well on city streets and the highway. Going around curves I've noticed no difference in road grip and have been able to maintain the speed I used with the stock tires. I’ve had to perform some evasive maneuvers and sudden harsh braking to avoid careless drivers and the random coyote and deer here and there with no issue.

  • Off-Road Handling - As of the writing of this review (mid February) I have yet to test the tires off road handling capabilities. So, stay tuned as I promise I will update this article as soon as I can take it to some trails, but I have no doubt I will be impressed as I have with other Eldorado tires I've owned.

  • Wet Traction - I was pleasantly surprised that for such an aggressive tread, the Eldorado Sport Fury AT4S tires handle the rain just as well as the stock all season H/T tires. That aggressive open shoulder design and tread really removes water from underneath the tire.

  • Snow Handling - Unfortunately, since installing these tires we’ve only experienced one snowfall so far and it was only about two inches and by the time I went on the road only snow that was left was on the side streets and I couldn’t really put the tires to the test. So, stay tuned and I will update as soon as it snows again.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I want you to know that this review is my own opinion of the tires that I researched and found to have the best value and performance features for my money, my Jeep Gladiator, and the type of on- and off-road driving I do. Your experiences may vary. I will continue to give updates on how these tires perform, good or bad.
